What is the Part of Fortune?
The Part of Fortune (Fortuna) is the oldest of the Arabic Parts — a point woven from your three great lights: Ascendant, Sun and Moon. Ancient astrologers read it as the place where life flows with you instead of against you — where ease accumulates, and body and world agree.
Why is the birth time required?
Because Fortuna is built from your Ascendant, and the Ascendant changes every few minutes. Day charts use Ascendant + Moon − Sun; night charts use Ascendant + Sun − Moon. Without the hour there is no Ascendant — and no honest Part of Fortune. A birth certificate time, or a parent's memory of the hour, is usually enough.
Do you use the day and night formulas?
Yes — the classical sect rule. If your Sun stands above the horizon the day formula applies; below it, the night formula. The calculator detects your sect automatically from your exact chart and tells you which one it used.
