What does "retrograde" actually mean?
Mercury never truly moves backward — from Earth's point of view it appears to, three or four times a year, for about three weeks at a time. Astrology reads that apparent backspin as a season of review: re-reading, re-saying, re-connecting.
Is being born retrograde bad?
No. Traditions read a retrograde natal Mercury as a mind that works inward first — reflective, original, less interested in quick answers than in true ones. It is a style, not a flaw.
